Chris Winnard

Monaco

Chris was introduced to sailing by his father at an early age, and his family cruised primarily in England, Europe, and the Caribbean.

When his family moved to San Diego in 1980, Chris caught the racing bug and began to actively campaign in the Santana 20 Class. Later, he started crewing and skippering boats in the IOR, MORC, and PHRF Fleets. Since then, Chris has racked up 13 National titles, 6 North American Championships, and placed at several World Championship events. In 2002, he was awarded the San Diego Association of Yacht Clubs, ‘Yachtsman of the Year’, and was awarded ‘Sailor of the Year’ in Seattle in 2006. He is an active member of Mission Bay Yacht Club where he works with the board to promote events and bring more people into the boating family.
